International Space Station sighted last night

The International Space Station (ISS) was visible briefly last night in our area. At 10:03 for about 4 minutes I saw it pass from SW to NE.

Unless there are clouds, it will be visible again tonight at 10:31, W to NE for about 4 minutes.

Do local geeks think the ISS is a good idea? Comment here to get a conversation going. We can continue the conversation in person at our first gathering, Wednesday July 7th at 6:30 PM, Joe's Pizza.

See you there.

Let's Get It Started!

Welcome to the announcement blog for Richmond Indiana Geek Dinners.

Do you find yourself talking to people who don't care about technology the way you do? Do you need a friendly environment in which to geek out from time-to-time? Want to talk about the implications of some move by Microsoft or Google with people who care? Like making stuff that works and want to find others who do too? You need a geek dinner!

I'm looking to create opportunities for technology enthusiasts in the Richmond and the surrounding area to get together every 6-8 weeks to geek out over dinner. Basically, we'll pick a place a few weeks ahead of time, meet there for dinner, drinks, and conversation. Ideal places have geek-friendly food and drinks and wireless access. No agenda. Bring topics or gadgets you might want to discuss, or just show up with a willingness to engage in problem-solving conversation.

I've created a google group email list (http://groups.google.com/group/richmond-geek-dinners-announce), a blog (http://richmondgeekdinners.blogspot.com/), and a facebook page (Richmond Indiana Geek Dinners) to keep everyone informed of these events.

Please invite to the group, blog, or fb page others that you think might enjoy getting together with others to talk about technology interests.
